Fashion and style as factors for active aging

The article attempts to treat fashion and style as a component of active aging. In contrast to the traditional meaning of fashion as a mechanism for providing circulation of fashionable objects in society, here the fashion is considered as an important regulative of human behavior, that endows the objects with a meaning “fashionable”. “Fashion” expresses the value of the object for an individual as well as the place and status of the individual in society. There are four basic, attributive values of fashion such as modernity, versatility, visibility, play and some denotative values Their transformation may be traced through the popular tendency of active aging adherence among aged people. Data used in the article were found during the empirical studies conducted by RANEPA in 2016–2017.
