Abstract

Through the prism of the theological concept of person the article consideres paradoxical relation between hesychia and social life, silence and communication, the individual and the society. The goal of the Christian ascetic-hesychast is to restore a living and personal relationship with the triune God through prayer that is focused on the hypostatic-natural relationship with Christ. In the process of spiritual development the prayer is becoming more and more the experience of the personal relationship with Persons of the Holy Trinity and of the personal compassion for other people. Examples from the lives of great hesychasts proves that the synthesis of Hesychasm and social action is necessary for the Christian transfiguration of the Human society. In the contemporary postmodern society with its characteristic lack of understanding of proper directions for development of personality within the dominant culture of consumption and pleasure implementating of the Christian experience of hesychia for the life of the Church and society and for the development of antipostmodern Christian pedagogy becomes more topical.
