Interview with Yuri Semenov

Abstract

The outstanding philosopher, historian, anthropologist Yuriy I. Semenov remembers the primary milestones of his scientific biography, articulates some of his most important theories and discusses  contemporary theoretical problems of anthroposociogenesis and the primitive society history as well as the theory of social and economic structures.  Anthroposociogenesis theory was developed by Yu. I. Semenov in the 60-ies of XX century, and up to now it  has been constantly evolving based on new scientific evidence. The concept of anthroposociogenesis, that was introduced by Y.I. Semenov, reveals the essence of the process of human being origination: the interconnection of biological formation of man and the formation of social relations. The process of anthroposociogenesis is in the perspective of consciousness and thinking development: thinking is not a reflection of the individual (as in higher animals), but a reflection of the general, since the  labor activity is associated with changes in the objects of the world and allows to discover and identify internal connections and patterns and so to cognize the essence of objects. The scientist reconstructs in detail the process of anthroposociogenesis, introduces the concept of «reflex labor", reveals the mechanism of formation of morality as a social result of the labor activity and group selection. Restriction of food and sexual instincts in the process of anthroposociogenesis leads to the formation of a taboo system, communal economy, and primitive group marriage. The fundamental development in the economy of primitive society, which is divided by scientists into two stages — early primitive society («primitive-communist») and late-primitive («primitive-prestigious») — leads to the disclosure of the «prestigious» economy causes, the remnants of which are preserved in our days. In general, reconstruction of the anthroposociogenesis and the internal logic of the primitive society development allows us to reveal universal social laws that are important for the modern human society understanding.
