The reflection of “u-topos”: revisiting the topology of the social space

Abstract

The phenomen of “un-place” is considered as the one that emerges during the analysis of social space of a postmodern city. The analysis is based on poststructural methodology. The semantic field of an “un-place” within the traditional society, the fluid modern and postmodern is defined. The “non-place” is correlated with the metaphor of a “hole”. The functions and prospect of an expansion of “un-places” in social space of postmodern are studied.
