Abstract

The article is based on the results of a sociological survey (2017) in the Lagolovo municipal settlement (Leningrad Region). The aim of the study was to explore the Lagolovo inhabitants’ perception of their sociocultural landscape. To that end, the investigators tried to examine how respondents see and, most importantly, mentally map the metaphorical images of social time and space. The survey and conclusions show that Lagolovo settlement community is a young one oriented to the future urban transformation. In the views of our respondents, an acceptable model for the future of their native settlement is oriented rather toward urbanization than to the return to tradi tional Russian peasant culture and subsistence farming. However, according to the moral and psychological characteristics of the community members, the community belongs to postconfigurative, i.e. traditionalist societies
