“Black square”: some parallels from contemporary literature

Abstract

“Black square” by Kazimir Malevich is one of the central symbols of the XX century. But, having been created in mental and spiritual atmosphere of Silver Age, this image has got some parallels in Russian literature of this period, in the works of Malevich’s contemporaries - Anna Akhmatova and Andrei Beliy. The article is devoted to the anatysis of these parallels.
