Neizvestniy, Dante and Dostoevsky

Abstract

The memoirs of the former Nauka Publishers officer Anatoliy Mikhailovich Kulkin are published that deal with the work by the artist and sculptor Ernst Neizvestniy illustrating wrings by Dante and Dostoevsky. A special attention is given to opposing of progressive-minded intelligencia against ideological censorship. In the Annex the letters by well-known scientists and cultural figures in support of publication of "Crime and punishment' by Dostoevsky illustrated by E. Neizvestniy in the "Literary monuments" serial.
