Abstract

A social revolution as both an essence and a phenomenon, is seen in the perspective of the transition from the classical dialectics (the objective vs the subjective) to the non-classical one (the expected vs the desirable). Two ways to live and to experience the events, including revolutionary ones are considered: the individual can do it either as a primarily social being or as a primarily existential one. The author adheres to the existential strategy and explains it. The social revolution is regarded as a desirable, if a short-time, vent for the individual in the unfair world, but not as a panacea for the actual human troubles and worries; at the same time, it is not the worst of public disturbances. The author distinguishes and balances the progressivist revolution against the “conservative” one and focuses on the criticism of the first and the advocating of the second. A “conservative” revolution is understood as an epiphenomenon of the preservation and strengthening of the symbiotic relationship between the Natural and the Existential in the Human being.
