"Us" and "Them" in the dynamics: the case of Rome

Abstract

In order to be itself, society has to be different from others. The form of this distinction is "Us-Them" opposition. The view on the Roman history demonstrates that the opposition reached its maximal intensity during the while in the preceding and subsequent ages it was minimal.
