The article is focused on processes of mediatization of the modern urban space. That process modifies usual communication models and leads to emerging of new everyday social and cultural practices. The changes in ways and modes of interaction of different social groups in mediacity are depicted. The author attempts to answer the question whether city mediatization strengthens the solidarity of urban community or, rather, intensifies social alienation. The process is ambivalent: in parallel with a formation of network "connectedness", a specific phenomenon of "distant involvement" emerges.
